Buffalo Field Campaign
PO Box 957
West Yellowstone, MT 59758
Description:
The Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) is the only group working in the field, everyday, to stop the slaughter and harassment of Yellowstone's wild buffalo. Volunteers from around the world defend buffalo on their traditional winter habitat and advocate for their protection. Our daily patrols stand with the buffalo on the ground they choose to be on, and document every move made against them. Volunteers spend all day, from sunrise until sunset, watching and documenting actions taken against the buffalo. We run patrols from cars, skis and snowshoes to protect buffalo outside the park. Tactics range from video documentation to nonviolent civil disobedience. BFC enjoys incredible support and participation from the local community. Residents allow us to post signs on their property designating them as 'Buffalo Safe Zones.' We offer a fence repair service to mitigate damage caused by wildlife. Locals join us on our daily rounds, and many support our patrols with hot drinks and food. All of our work happens because people are willing to take a break from their usual schedules and come help. Over 3000 people from all over the country and around the world have joined us in our log cabin on Hebgen Lake to help stop the buffalo slaughter. We feed and house all our volunteers in our cabin and Gardner satellite camp. Volunteers patrol for buffalo by skis, snowshoes, or cars. Everyone communicates by a network of hand-held radios, and also carries a video camera. Our office runs outreach programs, including slide and video presentations, summer tabling in Yellowstone Park, website and e-mail updates, and national media coverage through press releases and video.

It doesn't really matter since there isn't any money to be had anyway, just kind of a bummer to me. I actually have been tossing around a couple of $$$ making ideas w/my husband, and trying to figure out how to get in touch w/marc, but not really too interested anymore. I do hope that he finds someone to manage this site though, I read somewhere that he really can't anymore because of school. This could actually be something good for organizations & charities. Unfortunately, I don't think its a glitch, my personal opinion from watching when it happens and how it happens is that it appears to have been hacked and reprogrammed a bit. and while whoever wins doesn't matter as far as $$ goes, it seems to have been enough to discourage anyone from being here anymore. myself included. I certainly don't make the effort I used to....kind of seems pointless.

I presume you are talking about CP? His causes are PCRM & NRDC. I don't recall him having anything to do with Nothing but Nets. How PCRM and NBN garnered so many votes in such a short time is a mystery to me.However, if there were any irregularities I'm sure Marc would have noticed and done something about it. I know CP is a hard campaigner for his causes, but I do not believe he is cheating. There might be some explainable glitch why two causes have such a huge vote margin over other causes. With the "swear box" coming up quite frequently, I don't see how anyone could be cheating. Just the humble opinion of a computer DODO - me...

have a lovely day, afternoon, night or whatever, in your neck of the woods. xoxoxo

hey marena. well, sadly, you see those 500 votes in #'s 1 &2? they have been there since less than 2 days into this round. that is not mathmatically (sp?) possible. at least not without a whole lot of voters, which according to each of their pages, neither one has had more than one voter at any given time. But PCRM (I think that's #1) had one voter until it reached 555 votes, but Nothing but nets didn't have any most of the time. then when pcrm reached 555 votes, nbn all of a sudden got one voter and reached 555 votes, then stopped. mind you, it took less than one day for each cause to reach that many votes with only one voter, and NOT consistently. Which can can only mean one of two things. Major glitch, or hacked. happened round before last as well. some folks, including me, commented on it, then did not happen last round. now again. also noticed that each time i post a message, one of those strangely high-vote causes gets a vote. just sad to me. i know that there aren't a lot of people here right now, but for someone to do that to a charity site is just pathetic and lame, not to mention very childish. plus, i read that marc is looking for someone to boost this site back up again, and when that happens, if this arsehole is still playing games like this, then all of the other good causes don't stand a chance. Interesting to me also is the particular causes themselves that keep seeming to be the outrageously high ones....

Hi Lovely Marena!

I know - everyone else seems to be gone. I have been in and out, but when the site has been hacked as it appears to have been again, I think the it seems pretty pointless to actually vote as my votes seem to be dumping elsewhere. But I do miss the conversation with my friends, even if the votes don't count.

I bugs me that someone (or someone's) would rig up this site for themselves - all of the causes are good ones. Okay, in all fairness, I don't like a couple of them because they are not what they claim to be, but for the most part anyway. I don't know - I guess I feel that a goodwill charity thing like this shouldn't be the place for petty childish behavior. Isn't it all supposed to be for the helping of people or the earth or animals, and not our own personal ambition?

LOL - okay, getting off my soapbox now. Miss you Lady - glad to see you!
