The Fistula Foundation is dedicated to the treatment and prevention of obstetric fistula, the devastating injury caused by obstructed labor, through support of the Hamlin Fistula Hospitals in Ethiopia. Our first priority is to achieve financial sustainability for the Hamlin Fistula Hospitals as they expand their treatment and prevention programs to help a growing number of current and potential fistula patients. As such, we are committed to raising awareness of obstetric fistula, especially among North American donors, organizations, the press and other influencers.

Volunteer Information
The best way to volunteer—from anywhere—is to become part of our Circle of Friends program. You can plan and hold your own fundraising and informational events in support of the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital (AAFH).

In addition, we occasionally need volunteers in our office. If you live near Santa Clara, CA, check back frequently for available positions.

In most cases the Hospital cannot accommodate volunteers as they already have a built in supply of helpers. For example, many former patients, unable to return to their villages due to the severity of their injuries after childbirth are trained as nursing aides. This solves the Hospital's staffing needs and the girl's need for a job. While there may be no need for volunteers, visitors are always welcome.
