Description:
The USO (United Service Organizations) is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreation-type services to our men and women in uniform. The original intent of Congress - and enduring style of USO delivery - is to represent the American people by extending a touch of home to the military. The USO currently operates more than 130 centers worldwide, including ten mobile canteens located in the continental United States and overseas. Overseas centers are located in Germany, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Qatar, Korea, Afghanistan, Guam, and Kuwait. Service members and their families visit USO centers more than 5.3 million times each year. The USO is the way the American public supports the troops.

The Spanish pronounciation is the other way, and Sidra is cider in Spanish.

I'd have guessed "Sid" as in "Vicious", but that's because the first thing the name makes me think of is a bunch of X-Men monsters, the name of which starts off sounding like "Sid" when I listen to it in my head.

This is exactly what it did when we lost the lead Sunday morning. It switched over to a rising clock on the vote.

My mother had hell learning to remember Sidra's name. Most people get it wrong the first time and pronounce it seeeedra. We prounounce it like Sid, as in Sid Vicious-ra.

DK: I can think of a few other men with gemstone names (for some reason, "Garnet" was popular a hundred or so years back).

I'd post a comment Alryssa.
